Context around 2016/17 season:

• Bursaspor had been a regular Süper Lig club in previous years but were experiencing challenging times around this period. The 2016/17 season actually saw Bursaspor relegated from the Süper Lig (they finished 16th and went down after the 2016–17 campaign).
• Hamza Hamzaoğlu, who had managed several Turkish clubs and won the Süper Lig with Galatasaray in 2012–13, was appointed to manage Bursaspor during a period when the club sought stability and a push to avoid relegation, though relegation eventually occurred that season.
• The squad included a mix of domestic and foreign players; during this era Bursaspor typically relied on a combination of experienced Turkish professionals and international signings to compete in the top flight.

Notable facts about Hamza Hamzaoğlu (as relevant to Bursaspor tenure):

• Born 1969, former midfielder, transitioned to coaching after his playing career.
• Had prior managerial success (notably with Galatasaray) and was often brought into clubs to stabilize results or lead short-term rebuilds.
• At Bursaspor his task was to halt a poor run of form and guide the club away from the relegation zone; despite efforts, the 2016/17 league outcome resulted in relegation.

Competitions: Süper Lig (primary). Bursaspor would also have been involved in the Turkish Cup (Türkiye Kupası) during the season.
