Club: Malmö FF (commonly written MALMÖ FF)

Season context: Around the 2016/17 period Malmö FF were the dominant Swedish club. In 2016 they won the Allsvenskan (the Swedish top division), securing the domestic title. That victory qualified them for European competition in the 2017–18 season.

Head coach: Allan Kuhn

• Allan Kuhn, a Danish coach, took charge of Malmö FF in the summer of 2015.
• He served as Malmö’s head coach through the 2016 season and into 2017, when the club began the 2017 Allsvenskan campaign under his management.
• Kuhn is known for a pragmatic, organized approach and prior experience coaching in Scandinavia (including Brøndby IF and other clubs).

Notable players around 2016–2017:

• Andreas Antonsson / Markus Rosenberg (senior leaders; Rosenberg especially was the club captain and a key figure)
• Emil Forsberg had left earlier (to RB Leipzig in 2015), but the squad featured domestic and Scandinavian talent.
• Other contributors in this era included defenders and midfielders who helped secure the 2016 title and compete in domestic cups and European qualification.

Competitions:

• Allsvenskan (Swedish league) — champions in 2016, starting a new campaign in 2017 under Allan Kuhn.
• Svenska Cupen (Swedish Cup) — Malmö typically competed annually; performances around 2016/17 supplemented their league campaign.
• European competition qualification — winning the 2016 Allsvenskan granted Malmö entry to UEFA competition qualifying rounds for 2017–18.

Notes:

• Kuhn left Malmö in July 2017 after a run of less convincing results in the 2017 Allsvenskan; he was succeeded by a different coach as the club sought to regain top form that season.
