Club: Nottingham Forest (commonly styled NOTT'M FOREST)

Season Context: Around the 2016/17 season, Nottingham Forest were competing in the English Football League Championship (the second tier of English football). The club were aiming to return to the Premier League but faced a difficult campaign with several managerial changes and inconsistent results.

Manager (as requested): Philippe Montanier — a French coach appointed by Nottingham Forest in October 2016. Montanier arrived with previous experience managing in France and with young international sides; his brief at Forest was to steady the club and improve performances in the Championship.

• Appointment: Montanier was hired in October 2016 after the departure of the previous manager. His appointment followed a shaky start to the 2016/17 season for Forest.
• Coaching Style: Montanier is known for emphasizing organization, tactical structure and technical play; he had experience with youth development and working in continental systems.
• Tenure at Forest: His time at Nottingham Forest was short-lived; despite efforts to improve results and implement his methods, the club's form did not recover sufficiently and Montanier left the role (he was sacked in March 2017). During his spell he oversaw a run of matches that failed to lift the team to the club’s ambitions for the season.
