Club: Atlas Fútbol Club (commonly called Atlas)

Country: Mexico

Season (approx.): 2016/17

• Head coach / Manager: José Guadalupe Cruz (commonly listed as José Guadalupe "Profe" Cruz). He was Atlas coach during parts of 2016 and into 2017—appointed originally in March 2016 and in charge through the 2016 Apertura and into the 2017 Clausura before leaving later in 2017.
• Home stadium: Estadio Jalisco (Guadalajara, Jalisco)
• League: Liga MX (Mexico’s top division). The Mexican season is split into Apertura (second half of year) and Clausura (first half of next year), so 2016/17 covers Apertura 2016 and Clausura 2017.
• Notable squad members around that time:
  • Hernán Darío “Bolillo” (No — that’s a nickname for another coach; notable Atlas players included Mateus Uribe (midfielder), Oswaldo Alanís (defender), Jorge Villalpando (goalkeeper), Ignacio González, José Abella, Aldo Leao (midfielder/forward), Ismael Sosa (on loan earlier), and youth prospects from Atlas’ academy (Atlas is known for producing young talent).
• Performance (brief): Atlas historically struggled in that era and did not contend for the title in 2016/17; their league finishes and results placed them outside the Liguilla (playoff) spots in at least one of the two tournaments that season.
