Club: Club de Fútbol Monterrey (commonly known as CF Monterrey or simply Monterrey)

Country: Mexico

Season focus: 2016/17 (approximate timeframe)

• Head Coach: Antonio "Turco" Mohamed — Argentine manager who took charge of Monterrey for a stint beginning in 2015 and returned for later spells; he led the club during parts of the 2016–17 period.
• Stadium: Estadio BBVA (commonly called Estadio BBVA Bancomer at that time) — located in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, home stadium for Monterrey.
• League: Liga MX — Apertura and Clausura formats (2016–17 corresponds to Apertura 2016 and Clausura 2017 tournaments).
• Notable squad members (around 2016/17):
  • Rodolfo Pizarro — midfielder/winger
  • Rogelio Funes Mori — striker
  • Hirving Lozano — (had been at Pachuca; not at Monterrey — included here for caution: Lozano was not a Monterrey player)
  • Hector Moreno — (was at PSV/Real Sociedad around then; not a Monterrey player)
  • Marcelo Barovero — goalkeeper (Barovero was at Monterrey 2016–2018)
  • Diego Reyes — (on loan to Porto earlier; not at Monterrey in 2016/17)

Note: Mexican club rosters change between Apertura and Clausura; the most reliable squad list for a specific tournament should be taken from official Liga MX or club records.

• Honors/Performance (approximate):
  • Monterrey has been one of Mexico's most competitive clubs; in the mid-2010s they regularly qualified for Liguilla (playoffs) and competed in CONCACAF competitions in nearby seasons.
